Lai Mohammed, traditional rulers, others arrive Ogbomoso for Soun's coronation [PHOTOS]

The Ogbomoso Township Stadium is currently hosting the coronation and presentation of the staff of office to the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, and it is a hub for prominent figures from across the country. As the second largest city in Oyo State, Ogbomoso is witnessing an influx of dignitaries for this significant event.

Eminent personalities in attendance include former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, former President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Adebayo Oyero, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and clerics from within and outside the country. Notably, traditional rulers from the five local government areas comprising the Ogbomoso geo-political zone, Ogbomoso’s sons and daughters, and other residents of the city are also present at the coronation ceremony.

The selection of Prince Afolabi Olaoye of Olaoye Ruling House as the Soun of Ogbomoso was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde on September 2nd this year. Subsequently, Olaoye was installed as the new Soun of Ogbomoso on September 8th, 2023, by the kingmakers in Ogbomoso, led by the Areago of Ogbomoso, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin.
